Full Description:
On Thursday, June 14, 2007, young people and their fathers will tee up to benefit the Houston Parks and Recreation Department’s The First Tee at F.M. Law Park. The Sixth Annual Father’s Day Father/Child Charity Golf Tournament will take place at Wildcat Golf Club, 12000 Almeda Road, Houston, TX, 77045.
The teams will enjoy lunch before play, which will start with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. You may choose to play with a member of The First Tee program. Contributions are tax deductible. The First Tee of Houston at F.M. Law Park is dedicated to providing young people aged 5 to 18 an opportunity to develop life skills through the game of golf. The curriculum instills nine core values in youth: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgment. All classes are free of charge. Participation in the Father’s Day Father/Child Charity Golf Tournament supports instruction and facility enhancements at The First Tee of Houston. Created and initially funded by the Houston Parks Board, a charitable 501c non-profit organization, the $1.4 million facility includes 9 holes, a lighted driving range, and an indoor learning center. Tournament proceeds will go toward lighting the putting and chipping greens, building a maintenance storage area, and adding a new short game area at the course.
Athletes Seeking Knowledge (ASK) is also supported by the Father’s Day Father/Child Charity Golf Tournament. ASK provides educational resources and support, including scholarships for youth who take part in HPARD recreation programs. For more information on ASK call 713-845-1033.
